About an hour ago I got a pin from my mom saying "go look on your porch" my sick brain got worried "what's on my porch?"

I opened the door to two boxes. after a quick looksy I noticed one was from one of favorite places...

The Good Karmal company!

YEAH ME!

These are amazing! Each is wrapped with an ispiration Good Karma quote and the caramels are so incredible - the melt in your mouth. AMAZING!

Once again my mother made my day!
**Thanks Mom!

She went all Veruca Salt on me

Did you hear it?

All that screaming?

Did you see it?

All that fussing, pushing, fighting?

Could you feel it?

All my humiliation, discomfort and annoyance?

Could you taste it?

The greed, the envy

And the smell?

Oh the smell of disgust.

That was Hailey and I at Big Lots Monday evening.

We were trying to kill a little time and though I have only been to Big Lots once before and didn't find it appealing -it is BIG and you can walk around it and kill time.

I found some much needed small clear plastic tubs for $1.00 each and small spiral pads for the girls.

Hailey found a Cinderella Pad.

I told Hailey we were getting the pack of 10 pads and not the Cinderella Pad.

OOOPS.

She started to whine, but not just any whine - a loud, forceful whine. So I promptly told Hailey that we would not be getting ANY pads today because I was not feeling happy about he way she was acting. And I placed my pads back on the shelf.

OOOPS.

We went straight to check out line with my tubs - Hailey was SCREAMING for her pads now.

We got in line behind 4 women (women that looked like they pry had raised some kids). Hailey was screaming, trying to get out of the cart - crying and otherwise causing quite a scene.

One lady turned to me and said "someone needs a nap"

Then Hailey started yelling "I want what I want and I want it now" she was crying, her nose was running and since she is sick she was also starting to sound a bit croupy.

I was HUMILIATED - Veruca Salt had nothing on Hailey at this moment.

Would you believe that not one of those women offered to let me go in front of them. I wasn't going to leave, I was sticking to my guns, Hailey was getting nothing and I was getting what was in my cart and she would just have to live with it.

I refuse to have "that kid" I couldn't believe what was coming out of her mouth - where did that come from? I want what I want and I want it now? OMG.

When we finally got out of there - I buckled her in her car seat, stood by car and called my mom. We talked for 15 minutes (the car was on and the air was running - sorry o-zone) - by the time I was done we were both calmed down. Hailey was drawing and the incident was never mentioned again.

I WON! (at least this time)

Ballet is not for the week

What I learned this week is hosted by JoLynn over at Musings of a Housewife.

I thought I was going to be at a loss this week, I considered skipping this post all together. Then we showed up at Ballet class last night.

To start my post I must digress...For those that don't know Lauren has been taking ballet at a new school this year and had the opportunity to perform in the Nutcracker last winter, now she is gearing up for Peter Pan. Lauren will be a Fairy and a Mermaid and is really looking forward to the show. During rehearsal time it puts her at about 10 hours of Ballet a week, she is 8, that is a lot of dance.

A couple of weeks ago Lauren all but fainted on a Sunday morning - we decided to keep our eye on her, make sure she was drinking enough water for all the work she is doing. Thankfully she has been fine.

We got to dance last night and I decided it would be fun to post about the "happenings at ballet" a couple of the girls work on their homework before class. Lauren doesn't usually have any but last night she had a few math problems and it was cute to look around the waiting room and see this:

Then part way through class I thought it would be fun to get a voice recording of Lauren's teacher and how intense class is. I put a couple still shots of Lauren to go with the Voice Recording - keep in mind that I am about 60 feet away from the teacher and in another room as I am recording - (and you might need to turn your speakers up)

Not 1 minute after I turned off the recording we saw a classmate go down, like a tree in the forest - flat on her back. She fainted. It was frightening, it was scary and it was sad.

A father in the waiting room told his 11 year old son "I told you Ballet is not for the weak, these girls work harder and take more hits than your whole Hockey Team" What an amazing dad!

The classmate is OK, she is going to be sore and is going to be watched for a concussions or fracture -

So this week I learned two things - when you set out to do a ballet post -

"Be careful what you wish for you might get a what I learned this week post"

and

"Ballet is not for the weak".

Germs Germs Go Away

and don't come again another day.

I know you all know how OCD I can be about germs. I walk around with wet wipes in each hand when someone has the stomach flu - refusing to touch anything with my bare hands. I scrub, I launder, I air out the house, I spray the house I obsess.

Last week Lauren got a cold. She was better in about 48 hours.

Then Hailey got sick - she is not better yet - 96 hours later

Now...I am getting sick. I am trying to fight it. I feel the fight. But my throat hurts, my neck hurts, my head is in the clouds and it sucks. I don't have a fever. I just don't feel well.

So tomorrow - our windows will be open, the Lysol can will be emptied, the door handles and phones and remotes will be scrubbed the sheets will be washed and one or two of us might be visiting the Dr. Yippee.

Very Awarding

I was blessed this week in a bloggy kind of way! It was very Awarding! Two wonderful women thought I was "lovely" enough to pass this "lovely" award my way - and how can not accept such a "lovely" treat! The rules were simple, but YOU ALL know I flat out stink at following rules so I will tell them to you here:

You need to post the award on your blog, link back to the person who nominated you and pass the love to up to 15 new blogs that you have discovered. Let those you gave an award to know through a comment on their blog.

"Lovely" rules aren't they? So here are two the "lovely" bloggers that thought enough of me to pass it my way

Pam - at Pam's Perspective - Pam has a wonderful blog about family, books and life. Her writing is smooth and easy to read- she is a wife and a mother of two teenage daughters...Don't I hope I can learn a little from her before mine are teens!
Anita - at A Wife, A Woman, A Mom - Anita - a quick friend. How often can you say that? I made a quick friend. I feel like I have known Anita forever and it has only been a couple of weeks. She writes with emotion you can feel about her family, she also loves to read and has twin Teen Daughters and an 11 year old son.
I don't know who found who but I am glad we were found! Thanks Pam and Anita - and here's to many good reads ahead! It would be so "lovely!"
Now - I am supposed to tag 15 more "lovely" bloggers - and I just can't stand to do it. My list would runneth over - so instead I say to you: do you wish you had the "lovely" blog award? If you do, TAKE IT, claim it, own it, and LOVE IT!

Moving on: Jen over at TaterTots and Jello passed on another great award to me this weekend. (told you I was blessed)

Now this award is given for comments, comments, comments - and so many of you that stop by here each week leave me such wonderful comments, I read them all, respond to most of them and love each and everyone! Jen has a great blog full of spunk - she bakes, she decorates, she lives and her photos are awesome! Jen's Say it FORWARD award is meant to spotlight ONE faithful commenter each week - ONE? How do I pick one...OK I will

I pick Lindsay at Bytes of Memory - Lindsay and her adorable son Sammy have been brightening my days for months now - watching him grow, learn and fumble has been a blast - I hope I get follow Sammy growing up for a long time (and Lindsay too! - well not the growing up part)

So I bow humbly to the bloggy Award givers and I say Thank You!

Doo Wa Diddy Diddy Dum Diddy Do

That is what happens when Grams and Gramps take the girls for the evening! They come home singing songs like

Doo Wa Diddy Diddy Dum Diddy Do
One Eyed One Eared Flying Purple People Eater

You're so Vain, you probly think this song is about you, don't you
Ricky don't loose my number, its the only one you own
When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, That's amore!

But seriously while you roll those around in your in head for next few hours - I have to give a great big shout out to Grams and Gramps for picking up my sick children and taking them out to dinner so we could have a little quiet time in the house!

YAHOO, it was a hard week - I spent my quiet time working on the wordpress migration that is going to me forever and a day and "he" spent it making this new theme (available on many models)

And now the girls are in bed, I am going back to wordpress hell with a little Doo Wa Diddy in my head.

Liquid, Solid, Liquid and Visa Versa

These two sisters are sharing again. Just not the kind of sharing we like to see.

Lauren shared her runny nose, her sneezes, her cough and her fever with Hailey.

Now, you tell me, how sweet is that? Hmph.

So I had both girls home today...a whole week without a single hour alone in my house. A preview to summer?

So today we did some Liquid to solid and back to liquid then some solid to liquid and back to solid...

We started with Ice Boats - I have to admit these were WAY FUN!

Then we moved on to Chocolate Circles. These were fun for the girls - and yummy too!

So here's hoping everyone goes to school next week! With my luck our school will get a case of the "today's name flu" and close for a week!
