The Baby Monitor - Keeping your child safe at night or the ultimate spying tool?
I confess I love to turn it on when Hailey is playing in her room and just listen as she disciplines her dolls, talks about school, imitates her sister etc

last night I overheard this conversation she had with her dolls "You should NEVER EVER bring a water bottle to school, if you do you will go into a black hole in space. First you crack the eggs then you stir it and you stir it but if you bring a water bottle you will go to space"

(poor Hailey wants so bad to be like her big sister and Big Sis gets to bring water to school but Lil Sis is not allowed to bring anything to her school - we keep telling her when she is older and at a different school the rules might change)

She makes up songs and sings them about anything and everything when she is in her room. I need to set a tape recorder in there - she was also singing about books coming to you on Christmas Day last night and it totally cracked me up. "when the books come to you on Christmas day it doesn't matter matter matter because help is on the way when Clifford comes to play" Oh my, I wish I could have caught it all but I am just not a human tape recorder.

And this morning when she woke up she uttered over and over again "UGH, I don't wanna be SIIICK for EVEEEEEER"

I am wondering if I can sneak having monitors in their rooms when they are teens?

Would it be so wrong?

Hahaha - I should have kept those baby monitors to spy. What a great idea! I always wanted one of those baby monitors with the camera so I could see my babies in their cribs and see what they were doing.

We actually have a hidden camera in the basement so we can keep an eye on the kids and their friends. We watch it from our computer upstairs.

Funny!

LOL thats great. We have a video monitor and use it to see what Sammy is up to in his room. We have talked about how we can hid it in his room when he is a teen :-P Let me know how it goes ;-)

I had the video monitor in Ben's room up until several months ago! I could watch him playing in his bed when he was going to sleep! I loved that!

We don't use our baby monitor anymore but it would come in handy when they get older. She sounds just like my daughter...making up songs, stories. Where do they come up with these things?

Okay, this is really bad but I want to turn on baby monitors when we have showings and go to my neighbor's house to see what people are saying. Leo thought it might be, um, illegal?...

On your own teens, hell no! Spy away!

I've done the same thing. Claire tells the funniest stories to herself and her stuffed animals.

You know what's funny? The monitor is a permanent fixture in Claire's room, and we still use it at night when we're downstairs watching TV (her room is on a different level). It's always been there; she's never known anything different.

So, my question is, do you think the Teenage Claire would even NOTICE it!? LOL! I guess we'll find out in about 10 years!! ;)

I can just hear Hailey talking and singing to herself.. She is so amazing. I would keep the monitor for that if for no other reason.
